The King's Ebenezer

“Our communion with God is greatly impacted by our inability to remember all that He’s done for us in Christ. Through the sacrament of the Eucharist (Lord’s Supper), Christ established an Ebenezer for this very reason. The Communion table reminds us of no less than three things so that our relationship with Him and others is brought into harmony as intended. First, we remember Jesus through our obedience as a reminder that we are not autonomous, but rather accountable and dependent on a Holy God. Second, we remember Jesus through our repentance as our fervent cessation from unbelief lest we become hard of heart. Finally, we remember Jesus through joyful response as a reflection of His restoring work in us by way of the cross."
