Introduction to Philippians
May 11, 2014 • Allen Coleman • Philippians: His Glory. Our Joy.
Jesus' earthly ministry is over and about 30-years have gone by since His ascension. Paul is now Nero’s prisoner in Rome, nearing the end of his life and thinking about his impending death. The book of Philippians could be called “The Believer’s Guide To Joy”. It is a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the established church in Philippi to acknowledge a gift of money from the church, brought to the Apostle by Epaphroditus, one of its members. This is a tender letter to a group of Christians who were especially close to the heart of Paul.
Philippians is a loving reminder, from a loving pastor, to a loving church, about a loving God, and all that He has done for us in Jesus Christ for His glory and our joy.
